Plans to renovate the former Colonial Bakery building on Landmarks Boulevard in Alton have fallen through. Last November, the Alton City Council unanimously approved a plan that would have seen the building turned into a gun shop and firing range. Those plans have now been scrapped due to circumstances that were not apparent at that time.
Piasa Armory owner Scott Pulaski says the former bakery property has some environmental issues.
So the plan now is to put together a new financing package and purchase the former Riverboat Lanes (pictured) on Godfrey Road, which he says will offer more room and the ability to expand. Putting together a team of investors is the next step in that process, according to Pulaski.
