v>Republican candidate for governor Bruce Rauner is embarking on a 30-stop bus tour of the state, but one of his rivals in the primary isn’t impressed. Rauner’s campaign says it will travel more than 1,000 miles around the state during its “Shake Up Express” tour next week. State Treasurer Dan Rutherford says that’s nothing he hasn’t done during this or prior campaigns. “For someone to tout that they’re going on a 30-city tour, well, that’s very nice,” Rutherford said. “Just last week, I was on an 18-city tour in 3½ days – and that wasn’t my first time in those counties.”

Rauner raised about $3 million for his campaign in the final quarter of 2013, along with pouring another $1.25 million of his own money. Rutherford says he doesn’t have an issue with Rauner’s personal wealth, but believes experience that will make the difference in the March primary, pointing out that he’s the only one of the Republican candidates to have won a statewide office.
