Senior Services Plus and Impact CIL gathered a number of social services agencies together for a rally to keep awareness on the impact they say proposed budget cuts at the statewide level would have on local programs.  It’s a familiar theme, as all state-funded agencies have been pushing back against announced cuts since Governor Bruce Rauner announced his plans earlier this year.

A.J. French with Sacred Creations – a group that deals with mental health conditions - says 40 people in Madison County lost their lives to suicide last year because of a lack of needed services.

As the budget has not been approved for the next fiscal year, which starts on Wednesday, more than 10 organizations in the Riverbend area say they will not have funding, as the grants will not be signed if there is a shutdown.
