The city of Grafton continues to see growing success in local small businesses, and with ferry service slated to resume Friday, many are anticipating an influx of new and returning customers. The city purchased the ferry business a couple of years ago, including the landing on the Missouri side of the Mississippi, but went through a number of delays in dredging the river in order to re-open the business.
Now that the dredging is done and the ferry is ready to go, Mississippi Half-Step co-owner Jim Newton says he anticipates an immediate influx of new visitors. He says they really noticed a drop in business while the ferry was down.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 11am tomorrow at the Grafton Ferry Landing, which is near the Grafton Lighthouse and public boat ramp off Market Street.
