State Treasurer Dan Rutherford should top the GOP ticket for governor in two years. At least that’s what Illinois’ delegates to the Republican National Convention think. Fifty-one delegates responded to a “Daily Herald” survey asking who should be chosen to face Governor Quinn in 2014.
Rutherford (pictured) topped the list with 73 percent of the votes, with respondents citing his experience, name recognition, popularity, and fiscally conservative ideas as reasons why he's the best candidate. State Senator Kirk Dillard came in second with nine-point-six percent of the votes, while Congressman Aaron Schock had five-point-eight percent.
