The Goldenrod Showboat entertained visitors for the better part of the 20th century, but it will soon be reduced to a pile of scrap.  The boat closed for business in 2001, and has been docked in Kampsville along the Illinois River in recent years.  Thursday will be the final chance for visitors to board the boat before it is gone for good.

The Goldenrod Showboat Celebration of Life starts at 11am, and volunteer caretaker Shana Wankel tells The Big Z she's expecting a busy day.
