A Godfrey woman has claimed a million dollar Missouri lottery prize. The ticket had gone unclaimed since an August 4th drawing. Fifty-seven-year-old Debra Almonroeder bought the winning "Quick Pick" at Safi Amoco on Salisbury in St. Louis on her way to work. A recent news story on no one claiming the money prompted Debra to check her tickets, revealing the win.
Almonroeder says when her husband William saw the story, they double checked the ticket which was in a pile of other lottery tickets next to their computer, and they found the winner. The couple has no plans to retire, but will set money aside for their grandchildren. The gas station that sold the ticket will receive $1,000.
