The first meeting of 2015 was a fairly quick one for the Godfrey Village Board Tuesday night. With just two action items on the regular agenda, much of the attention was on the Consolidated Election, which will be coming up in the spring. With three seats to be contested in the April election, two trustees have chosen not to run for office.
Jeff Weber and Jerry Gibson did not file nominating petitions, so their time as members of the Village Board will be coming to an end soon. Eldon "Twirp" Williams will be running for re-election. He will be joined on the ballot by Bill Orrill, Karen McAtee, Joe Springman III, Terry Seymour, Kevin Botterbush and Nate Keener. The Consolidated Election will be held on April 7, but early voting will begin March 23. The two agenda items were approval of the Alton Regional Convention and Visitor's Bureau and an amendment to the personnel policy to add "Rights in the Workplace", which is required by law. Both passed unanimously.
