As Godfrey Trustees get ready to pass a budget, the biggest consideration many face is how to budget for property assessments. Madison County policy states that townships without their own assessing capabilities will be able to utilize the county assessors, at a cost. That cost appears to be a bit higher than originally thought, but Godfrey Township Supervisor Doug Mueller says his office should have it covered.
The township levee was $171,050 last year, and Mueller says even if they have to increase that number, it would be less than 5%.
