Even though winter is well behind us, the Village of Godfrey will be buying more salt.  The village gets its salt through a Madison County bid process, and the county is going out for bid soon.  It asked all townships and municipalities to let them know how much they would be requesting by the end of April.

The Village’s Director of Maintenance, Jim Lewis, told trustee Eldon “Twirp” Williams there is little concern about having too much salt.

The trustees approved a purchase of 1,000 tons of salt.  He says the village has close to 1,500 tons in the storage shed right now, which would likely handle a normal winter.
