A pair of restaurants along Godfrey Road will be expanding soon, following action by the Godfrey Village Board. Dairy Queen in Monticello Plaza will extend its dining area toward Tolle Lane, which will also help divert traffic, and Josephine's Tea Room will expand its kitchen - a move that they have been wanting to make for at least five years.
The issue with Josephine's in the past has been opposition by the neighboring apartment complex over concerns over stormwater runoff and a possible devaluation of the property. Both sides have come to an agreement, and Trustee Eldon "Twirp" Williams is glad to see things have come this far.
In other Village business, an engineering and construction agreement for the Taylor Avenue widening project was approved, and funding was allocated for the project. Trustees are also putting together a "wish list" of road projects it would like to see addressed over the next several years.
