Last year’s relatively mild winter didn’t deplete salt supplies around the region as it had the previous year, so most municipalities should be in fairly good shape. Godfrey’s Director of Maintenance, Jim Lewis, tells The Big Z the village’s street crews are getting ready for when the first storm hits, converting the trucks for winter use.

The village is also purchasing 12 temporary rumble strips at a total cost of $3300. These can be placed around street crews as they work on or along the roadways, creating another layer of protection. The theory is that the rumble strips could catch the attention of inattentive drivers before they approach the work area. The village also renewed the contract of for Animal Control with Susie Stephan, effective February 1, 2016.
