There was a major power outage in Godfrey late Saturday night into early Sunday morning and the folks at Ameren have provided a reason for the power problems.

According to a statement from Ameren Illinois spokesperson Victoria Busch:

"The outage that affected about 2000 customers on Saturday night started at about 10:20 pm. Power was restored to all customers by 1 am. The outages was caused by a device failure that affected service out of two substations: Clifton and Arrowood. After patrolling the lines, our crews were able to complete the repair work necessary to get power restored as quickly as possible."
