Several construction projects and a decision to protect funds associated with business has left Godfrey's budget unbalanced. As it currently stands, the Village is projected to come in $300,000 in the red, but Village leaders aren't sounding the alarms just yet.
Mayor Mike McCormick says this situation isn't very different than what happened last year.
McCormick says that the village has cut back on a few construction projects and that the decision to protect funds for local businesses was the right one to make. He expects the Trustees discussed the budget earlier this week before approving a budget and appropriation ordinance and they, like McCormick, remain confident that the budget will balance itself out.
