Arbor Day is coming to Godfrey.  The 15th annual celebration at Glazebrook Park is set for Saturday with a free Dogwood sapling giveaway to the first 500 guests, food and drink, games and entertainment.   A fishing derby will kick off the event at 8:30am, followed by the main event from nine to one.  

Godfrey Park and Recreation Department Director Kimberly Caughran says for first time fishers, they'll have a few experts on hand to help during the derby:

A few costumed characters will be on hand and new this year is a live action chainsaw sculptor.  There will also be a contest called "Tree-vial Pursuit" for a chance to win a Crab Apple Tree.   Free hot dogs and soda will be handed out beginning at 11am, and weather permitting the New Horizons Band will perform at that time.   The annual memorial tree dedication set for Noon.
