Union Pacific Railroad will be closing the Alby Street crossing near Humbert Road on Saturday, but the original plan had the potential to create traffic headaches for parents, the Alton School District busses, and other motorists.  Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick says he was notified at about 9am Tuesday the railroad was planning on closing the crossing within hours of receiving the call.

Union Pacific is responsible for the maintenance on the tracks, but McCormick says he convinced them to give the public a little more warning.

Times for the Saturday closure are from 8am-6pm.  In other village board business, the latest changes to Godfrey’s live music ordinance have been passed.  Bars that have bands and DJ’s play outside will now be allowed to let them play until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.  All other nights remain at 10pm, unless it is the night before a holiday, such as Thanksgiving Eve or New Year’s Eve.  Trick or Treating in the village was set for October 30 and 31 from 6-8pm.
