While state lawmakers have approved the use of medical marijuana in Illinois, the first prescription is yet to be written. Godfrey Village Trustees may soon consider where the grow operations will be placed, if anywhere, and has sent the issue to the Public Safety Committee to be discussed at its next meeting.
That meeting will be at Godfrey Village Hall June 2 at 6pm. Building and Zoning Administrator Laura Dixon feels the village should get ahead of the issue and establish some guidelines fairly quickly.

State officials are still trying to pin down the rules for the new medical marijuana program and licenses won’t be issued to sick people until this fall.
