With the Godfrey TIF and a Business District now more than a year old, village leaders are looking for ways to make the districts come alive. The desire is to create a pool of funds to embark on infrastructure repairs and do some business development recruiting. The village may pursue a Municipal Project Funding plan, which is a cost-sharing plan of sorts.
Tom Long, Chairman of the Economic Planning and Development Committee, says there is plenty of interest in Godfrey, but also plenty of hesitation by developers in what some still consider to be a shaky economy.
He introduced the concept to village trustees at last week's Village Board meeting. No formal action has been taken on the idea, but trustees could act on it next week.
