A boil order issued last week for about 50 Illinois American Water customers in Godfrey has been lifted. Spokesperson Karen Cotton says that water quality tests have confirmed the water continues to meet all U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Safe Drinking Water Act standards and regulations. It is no longer necessary for customers to boil their water before drinking or cooking.
While the boil order has been lifted, Cotton reminds that the traffic alert issued due to Thursday's water main break near the intersection of Godfrey Road and Celesta/Taylor Avenue will remain in effect while the road is repaired.
