Godfrey's Village Board will be considering its 2015-2016 tax levy soon, but there is disagreement over which way to go.  The levy has been reduced each year for the past several years, as the village continues to see more tax money from its growing business community.

The cuts have been part of a process spearheaded by Mayor Mike McCormick to eventually eliminate the property tax in the village.  Trustee Sarah Johnes says she is in favor of another reduction.

Trustee Mike Stumpf says it is time to at least hold the line on the levy, if not raise it.

The levy last year came in at $485,636.  This issue will be discussed at length at the next Finance Committee meeting, to be held at Godfrey Village Hall on Monday, November 30 just after 6pm.
