Cowboy Slim’s Smokehouse and Saloon in Godfrey is closed pending a liquor license hearing next week. The restaurant in the 7100 block of Montclaire Avenue was closed Thursday afternoon due to a violation of the liquor license rules, according to Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick. He says at this point, the future of the establishment is in the owner’s hands, and they could still serve food and soft drinks if they choose to do so.

If they can come up with proof of dram shop insurance, they could serve alcohol again. The bar has been open about 6 months under its current name. Before that, it had been run as The Rotten Apple, Sycamore Inn, and Sid’s Roadhouse at various times. Attempts to contact the owner of the establishment have been unsuccessful to this point.
