The Village of Godfrey is taking a wait-and-see approach when it comes to expanding Glazebrook Park.  The village has relied upon state matching grants for past work at the Stamper Lane location, but with the announced cuts to local park projects, Godfrey will wait to see how it plays out in Springfield.

Godfrey Park and Recreation Director Kimberly Caughran tells The Big Z the OSLAD grants that Governor Bruce Rauner put on hold as part of cost cutting measures have been important tools for the creation of Glazebrook Park:

Caughran says when funding becomes available, the village would like to connect the main park and the ball fields with an interior road and more walking trails, as well as more soccer fields, ball fields, picnic shelters and a wedding gazebo.
