Falls continue to be one of the most prevalent issues facing firefighters in the Godfrey Fire Protection District. Chief Erik Kambarian says they respond to hundreds of calls each year.  As a result, the chief and other department heads are working on a fall prevention information program that could be rolled out later this year.

As part of that program, Public Education Officer Lt. Tom Wills would visit homes later this year as the program is rolled out to look for potential hazards. He gives a few examples of things he will be looking for.

Kambarian adds that falls are not isolated to only the elderly. He says the district has a number of younger, disabled individuals they assist with similar issues throughout the year. For more information, contact the Godfrey Fire Protection District by calling 466-7234.
