Now could be a good time to pass a gay marriage law in Illinois. That's according to state representative Greg Harris, who tells "Crains Chicago Business," that the climate around gay marriage has changed in a huge way. He says voters in Maine, Maryland, and Washington sent a message Tuesday when they voted to support or uphold gay marriage in those states.
Harris championed a measure which legalized civil unions in Illinois and sponsored a bill to legalize gay marriage earlier this year but didn't call it for a vote because of more pressing issues. He says he could move forward with the plan next spring.
