Drivers in Missouri would rather pay a higher gas tax than a higher sales tax. Those are the findings of a recent survey by the Missouri Department of Transportation. MoDOT says almost 24-percent of those surveyed would support a hike in the state gas tax, which is one of the lowest in the nation.
Other notes in the study showed 23-percent would support the creation of toll roads, and 17-percent would support an increase in the general sales tax. MoDOT released the study, saying it needs millions more for the upkeep of roads and bridges in the state of Missouri.
