The new sponsor of gambling expansion legislation in the Illinois House is afraid he is seeing his efforts sabotaged, and he is not sure from whom.   State Rep. Bob Rita (D-Blue Island), at a news conference called on short notice Wednesday, said he wonders if reported comments attributed to Illinois Gaming Board Chairman Aaron Jaffe really represent somebody else’s opinion – perhaps the governor’s.

Jaffe was quoted as saying the Chicago casino should be in its own bill, rather than part of the package Rita is putting together: five casinos, slot machines at race tracks, and added positions at the existing casinos.  While Rita is concerned Jaffe's last-minute remarks will sink his bill, other lawmakers voiced concern that the mayor of Chicago and Cook County board president will have differing ideas on revenue sharing.
The session is scheduled to end Friday.
