Plans for big park projects in Alton will have to be dramatically scaled back, according to the city’s Park & Recreation Executive Director. Mike Haynes says with the funding freeze coming from the governor’s office, a lot of work planned at Gordon Moore and Riverview Parks has been put on hold.
At Riverview Park, funding came in part from a federal Scenic Byways grant, but about $148,000 of that was from the state’s OSLAD Grant. He tells The Big Z they will proceed, but on a smaller scale.

At Gordon Moore Park, field renovations that are currently underway will be finished, but he says other work on tennis courts, concession, bathrooms and pavilions will not happen, at least not now.
