The Alton Branch of the NAACP is putting the final touches on its biggest fundraiser of the year. The 46th annual NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet will be held next month with all proceeds going to benefit the organizations’ year-round programs in the Riverbend. The event will be highlighted by a keynote speech from U.S. Representative Bill Enyart and the presentation of awards to seven individuals.
The honorees include Cathy Contarino, Vernetta Caffey, Madison County Sheriff Bob Hertz, Associate Judge Clarence Harrison, Tom Holloway, Calvin Hightower and Richard Johnson. The banquet will be held at 6 p.m. on May 3rd at the Alton Holiday Inn. Tickets for the event are $60 each.
