Illinois soldiers who recently put their lives on the line overseas are eligible for free tax preparation. Military personnel stationed in a combat zone, or those who have returned from one within the last year, can contact one of 90 certified public accountants around the state who volunteer to give the help.

Marty Green, the Illinois CPA Society’s vice president of government relations, says he’s not sure what these services would cost for someone else.
