Starting today, you can file your income taxes with the IRS. If you need help preparing your taxes and meet certain income standards, there is free help available through a program being offered locally at Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey. The Tax Project is part of the Gateway EITC Community Coalition, and the Alton chapter helped over 1,400 people and families last year.
This year the service is located at the Nursing Building on the LCCC Campus, according to spokesman David Thies. He says this is a service for those making $52,000 a year or less

He says this is the same service as offered by commercial tax preparers, except it’s free. The site will be open from 5:30-8pm Tuesdays and Thursdays, and on Saturdays from 10am-1pm through April 15.
