Four people from St. Louis are jailed and charged with felonies in an Alton home invasion. Police say 24-year-old Rachel Barnes, 27-year-old Christopher Hill, 20-year-old DeMarco Smith, and 38-year-old Curtis Wallace all took part in the crime January 16 in the 1300 block of Pearl Street that left the victim with life-threatening injuries. He is now recovering and has been released from the hospital.
Alton Police Chief Jake Simmons says they all went to the house to commit armed robbery, but Smith and Wallace beat the 55-year-old victim with a gun, pipe wrench and their fists, and stabbed the man with a knife.
