As the state of Illinois struggles to fund schools, organizations like the Alton Educational Foundation become more important to school districts. The organization that provides grants ranging between $200-$1500 will be holding their second annual Redbird Raffle later this month and they are pleased with the amount they have raised so far, but are hoping to raise even more before November 26th.
The foundation has given grants to the district that has helped fund projects that have improved the classrooms in both public and private schools. Vice President Teresa Willis says that if you think that the money the district receives from taxes is enough, you might need to think again.
The Alton Educational Foundation's 2nd annual Redbird Raffle will be held on November 26th during halftime of the final game of the Alton High School Basketball Tip Off Classic. Tickets will be for sale during the games that week, and the grand prize is $25,000.
