A former Illinois State trooper has once again lost his bid to get his drivers license back. Matt Mitchell, who now lives in Texas, was driving his patrol car at 120 miles an hour while talking on the phone and working on his in-car computer when he hit another car in 2007, killing sisters Jessica and Kelli Uhl on Interstate 64 near O’Fallon.
Thursday’s attempt was the fourth time Mitchell has gone to court in St. Clair County to have his license reinstated. Mitchell’s attorney claims the former trooper wants to be a productive member of society again and needs his license so he can work and take his daughter back and forth to school. Mitchell can seek to have his license reinstated every three months.
