A former executive with Jersey State Bank could find out her federal sentence today. The court hearing is scheduled to continue in East St. Louis for Mary Susan Becker who pleaded guilty to bank fraud. She could spend up to eight years in prison and be forced to repay $4.5 million.
On Monday, Judge Michael Reagan and the attorneys for both Becker and the government met for three hours concerning the amount of money she would have to repay. Becker funneled money to 17 accounts listed in her name or the names of relatives and stole funds from Jersey State Bank for approximately 12 years. She resigned last February. The case is believed to be the largest internal bank fraud case ever prosecuted in federal court for the Southern District of Illinois.
