The Crisis Food Center in and Catholic Charities in Alton are just two examples of food pantries that are having a harder time meeting their needs in the middle of summer. There is a noticeable increase in need over the last few years, with children and the elderly accounting for a large portion of that number. These two and many others are looking toward the generosity of the public to keep their shelves stocked.
