The largest one-day food drive for local food pantries did not live up to expectations, according to the head of one local food pantry. The 22nd annual National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Food Drive was held two weeks ago, but since no bags were handed out this year, mail carriers did not have nearly as many bags to pick up.
Alton Crisis Food Center Executive Director Susan Jolley says the drop in donations is noticeably smaller.

She says you can help out by donating either cash, or a bag full of groceries directly to the Crisis Food Center. Non-perishable food items are most in need, but no glass containers.
Serving the areas of Alton, Godfrey, East Alton, Wood River, Roxana, Edwardsville, Jerseyville, Brighton, Bethalto, Grafton, Granite City, Hartford, Highland, Troy, Fairview Heights, Belleville and the surrounding cities.
