The Illinois Department of Public Health says this is one of the harshest flu seasons we’ve seen in awhile.  Flu activity is now widespread in Illinois, says public health director Doctor LaMar Hasbrouck, hitting more people than usual this year.

Hasbrouck says flu season typically runs through March so it’s definitely not too late to get your flu shot.  He says washing your hands frequently, and staying home if you are sick are other good ways to help prevent the spread of influenza.
