The near record low water levels on area waterways should not be taken as a reason to drop your flood insurance, according to a spokesman with the Illinois Department of Insurance.  Mark Terry says if you think you can drop that coverage even for a season, you are taking a huge gamble.

Terry comments

He says even two inches of water in your home can do significant damage.  For example, a water soaked finished basement will require the removal of all of the drywall, and a thorough cleaning to avoid potential mold issues.
