You could be losing upwards of 4,000 gallons of water a month.  That is the word from Illinois American Water as it teams with the EPA to raise awareness of how much water is lost annually to leaks.  Fix A Leak Week runs through Sunday.

With more than 110-million households in the nation, even small leaks can turn into more than a trillion gallons of water lost each year.  She says a hole no bigger than the size of a period in a sentence can cause a loss of 4,000 gallons in a month, which is enough for a shower every day.  You can learn how to detect leaks in your home and find instructions to repair those leaks by visiting the Illinois American Water Online Learning Center:
