With less than two weeks to go as East Alton Mayor, Fred Bright says the village has a lot going for it, but also many challenges.  He says the workforce is now down by nearly a dozen to 50 employees as cuts have been made over his 18 years in office to reflect the money struggles the village deals with.

Bright tells The Big Z there is reason for optimism too.

As first reported on The Big Z, Bright says a partial demolition of Eastgate may be in order.  The area that houses Julia’s Banquet Center should be spared, as the operators of that business have another 10 years left on its lease.
