The First Night Riverbend celebration is 17 years old this year, and a big celebration is being planned again this year. It is now just a little more than a month until families from around the area will celebrate the ringing in of the New Year in a alcohol and drug-free environment.
The celebration at Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey features live music, face painting, magicians, and other family-oriented entertainment. Co-organizer John Nell says many volunteers are needed to make First Night a success.
A training session will be planned for the volunteers a couple of days before the event. You can still volunteer by calling 468-7500, or log on to AltonDailyNews.com for a link to their website.
