First Night Riverbend- the alcohol and drug-free New Year's Eve celebration held each year at Lewis and Clark Community College- is just six days away.   In addition to a pair of fireworks shows - one at 9pm and the other at midnight - there will be musical acts, magicians, face painting, and plenty of other activities and attractions for kids of all ages.

The success of the event relies on an army of those donating their time, and a call was put out about a month go to try and get as many people in place as possible.  "First Night" co-organizer John Nell says they have had a great response, but could use a few more.

You can volunteer by calling 468-7500.  He says to remember that buttons are your ticket into the event, and they are on sale at the usual locations- Dick's Flowers, Party Magic, all Liberty Bank locations, and the Jersey Community Hospital Wellness Center.
