While the river is still up, it’s not going to stop the annual Fireworks Over the Mississippi.  The event is still on for tonight, with kids activities beginning at 5 and music to start at the Liberty Bank Alton Amphitheater at 6.  The fireworks will begin at dusk.

The kids activities will be in the “Children’s Village,” which includes inflatables for the kids, glitter, airbrush and face painting as well as a balloon artist for a small fee.  Alton-based band The Wherehouse Project takes the stage at 6pm.  The United States Air Force Band of Mid America will headline, with their performance to begin at 8pm.  There will be festival food like hot dogs, funnel cakes, kettle corn, cotton candy, and Hawiian Ice.  Admission is free, although you can buy a VIP ticket for $25 that gives you access to a private concession area, restrooms, and VIP parking close to the amphitheater.  You can find out more by calling 465-6676.
