The Alton Salvation Army is making a final push for donations heading into the weekend. Lieutenant Teri Ellison says there are 17 red kettles around the Riverbend, and it is going to take a great effort on the part of the community to help them reach the goal of $114,000 collected this season.
She says as of Monday, they were 66% of the way there.
A popular contest was added to this year's Red Kettle Campaign. The "Where's Lieutenant" contest was a take off of the popular series "Where's Waldo." The first person to see Lieutenant Bryan Ellison in uniform ringing bells would call a special number, and if they were the first to report him, they would win a $25 gift certificate to Applebees. You can drop your donation in any Salvation Army red kettle by Christmas Eve.
