A 55-year-old Fieldon man has been sentenced to more than 3 years in prison and fined nearly $1.3-million following his guilty plea earlier this year to tax evasion and weapons charges.  David Ray pleaded guilty in July to tax evasion and possession of a firearm by a user of controlled substances, waiving his right to face a grand jury indictment.

Ray's home was raided by federal agents on February 13, 2012 and 96 firearms and more than 25-hundred rounds of ammunition was seized.   Authorities also found 110 grams of cocaine at his home.  The raid was the culmination of an investigation into tax evasion in which the IRS determined Ray had concealed income from the federal government in order to limit his tax liability.  He avoided paying more than $1.2 million dollars in federal income taxes from 2005-2010 as he operated his own businesses.
