A letter read at the recent Godfrey Village Board meeting may speed up the process of getting public basketball courts in the village. Alton High School student Justus Pedrero penned the letter to Mayor Mike McCormick, explaining that aside from the small areas to play in driveways that had adjacent basketball hoops, there was no place to play in Godfrey.
McCormick says he hopes to change that soon.

McCormick says there are basketball courts planned as part of an OSLAD grant to continue work at Glazebrook Park. The only other basketball court in Godfrey was a half court that shared asphalt with the parking lot behind Godfrey Village Hall, but that was removed several years ago.
