From the end of May to mid August, the community will be able to swim, splash, and slide the afternoon away at the Wood River Aquatic Center, and this year's opening day is Saturday, May 30.  Rates were set by the Wood River City Council this week and will be a bit lower in most cases, offering what city officials say is a more affordable experience for area families.

Aquatic Center manager Fred Slow tells The Big Z the changes come after talking to others in the business of municipal pool management.

Prices are $1 for toddlers 2 years old and younger, $6 for children 3-16, adults 16-54 would be charged $7, and $6 for seniors 55 and older.  The rates stayed basically the same at Belk Park Golf Course as well, with weekend and holiday rates at $39 for 18 holes with a cart for non-residents.
