Fees may be going up at the compost facility in Wood River. The facility was recently the topic of discussion after it was discovered that people were dumping there illegally. In addition to being able to get rid of organic materials, the city keeps a dumpster on-site which is eventually unloaded at the landfill.
Steve Palen, Director of Public Services for the City of Wood River says rates to dump items there are low as compared to neighboring communities.

Other changes to the regulations were put forth in November. Residents will have to use a punch card prior to dumping any brush at the compost site
