The Alton City Council has passed a resolution that could eventually lead to higher permit fees in the city. The fees cover everything from hooking up electrical service to plumbing permits. Alton’s Development and Housing Director Greg Caffey tells The Big Z these changes have been considered for a while.

New will be a $50 demolition fee and a $150 fee for filing an appeal with the Building Board of Appeals. The proposal now moves through the ordinance process, which could take another month to complete.
