“I don't think anyone really believes Pat Quinn is really (imprisoned predecessor) Rod Blagojevich,” said University of Illinois Springfield political science professor Kent Redfield. "You can overplay it … it's a huge opportunity (and) an easy hit” for detractors – including Republican gubernatorial nominee Bruce Rauner – to make. “Because of the past corruption” of past governors, Redfield says, “the reaction is, here we go again.”
